Episode 043 - Lane Compton

There's a moment in Mafia III that still resonates with me to this day. It made me freeze, controller in hand, and just stare at the screen while I tried to process what I had just witnessed. I don't want to spoil it in case you haven't played yet (and I highly suggest that you get on that), but it's one of those sweet moments in gaming that grabs you by the collar and shakes you hard.

The writing...the direction...the animation...all of it coalesced into a scene that is no doubt the envy of other creatives. It was topped off perfectly by a riveting performance supplied by actor Lane Compton and it was a joy to talk with him about his (first!) experience performing for a video game, the acting and audition process, and some of the many seemingly inconsequential moments that ultimately led him to pursue his passion.

Lane is the epitome of a working actor and I was fortunate enough to spend some time talking with him about what that involves. His ambition is infectious and this is a conversation that left me encouraged and motivated. I'm sure it'll have the same effect on you. Give it a listen and see if you don't walk away instilled with a new enthusiasm to hanker down and chase a few dreams of your own.
